Our bedtime routine is like clockwork around here. I am a firm believer in schedules, and I start to go a little cross eyed when things get off balance. Every night around 7:30 we start Ethan's bedtime routine.
First, turn the sound machine on.
Next get into a clean diaper.
Now, we lotion him up with some relaxing "Bed Time" lotion. With calming lavender and chamomile...don't you feel your eyelids getting heavier already?

Then we show off our muscles while we are all oiled up!

Next comes the acne antibiotics, because Ethan has the face of a teenager without it.

Now, for the shot of whiskey to help him get to sleep. I kid I kid! It's only gripe water to help with his gassy tummy!

Then onto the sleeper. We have tried multiple "under layers" and this one works the best as far as easy access for middle of the night diaper changes. Don't be fooled. My son is not wearing a dress.

The key to a good night's sleep is a good swaddle. First you must prep the blanket.

It's a competition as far as who swaddles better. Unfortunately as the night progresses, Adam's swaddling skills drastically decrease.

And if one swaddle is good, then TWO swaddles are better! (He outgrew the pod, and I have come to terms with the fact that I can no longer squeeze him into it.)

Usually as soon as we start this routine Ethan is a calm and happy baby.

However by the last step he knows food is coming, and he then he starts to get a little bit cranky!

I then feed him and then Adam rocks him for about 20 minutes. That's it! That's an average night these days in the Lunn household!
